Best Renovated & Newest Hotels in Waikiki, Honolulu

Quick Guide: Best Hotels in Waikiki, Honolulu

3 Best Renovated Hotels in Waikiki 🏨

Are you tired of checking in to a hotel and finding out it is unlike the pictures?

I know that feeling; even after hours of reading reviews and going on Reddit, Tripadvisor, or Google, sometimes it's still not how it seems. This is why I did the legwork for you and tried all these hotels to see if they are up to par!

For the past few years, I have been going back and forth to Waikiki hotels, hoping to find out which hotels are the best. I used to stay in Airbnb around Waikiki because many hotels are old, dirty, stinky, and leaky. Here are some of my favorite hotels in Waikiki that are up-to-date, new, or recently renovated in the last few years. Not to mention, there are a few hotels I absolutely love and do not charge a resort fee, which is hard to find in Waikiki!

It is a luxurious beachfront resort with no resort fee. It has a year-round pool, fitness center, restaurants, spa, bar, and family rooms. The Halekulani Hotel has been an award-winning AAA 5-star hotel for 15 consecutive years (that's impressive). Guests can enjoy the hotel's award-winning restaurants, Orchids and La Mer.

Additionally, guests receive complimentary access to the Bishop Museum, the Honolulu Museum of Art, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, the Iolani Palace, and the Shangri La Museum of Islamic Art, Culture & Design with their hotel card. Also, don't miss out on the free surf lessons for those who want to learn how to surf.

It boasts modern designs and the most updated facilities for its rooms. The hotel offers different room types, with views of the mountain, ocean, or overlooking Waikiki.

Regardless of the room type, all rooms have the best design and amenities to comfort all guests. Guests shouldn't miss trying out the in-house restaurant UMI by Vikram Garg for breakfast or dinner, as the flavors will surely impress. Additionally, guests booking this hotel can use their hotel card to access the Bishop Museum and the Honolulu Museum of Art for free.

If you are a sucker for an oceanview room, then this is the hotel for you because it has a beautiful view of the yacht harbor. Prince Waikiki was last renovated in 2017, turning it into a new hotel, giving guests the best experience while staying in Waikiki. Every time you walk into a Prince Waikiki room, you will go, "Wow." They have a Club Lounge Access that provides all Club room guests breakfast, snacks, dinner, and beverages overlooking Ala Wai Boat Harbor. Enjoy the beautiful infinity pool, saltwater pool, and hot tub, and reserve a cabana to relax while watching the sunset.

Even though they have a resort charge of $42 daily, there are many benefits along with it, including admissions  & discounts to activities.

Outrigger Beachcomber Waikiki is a tall hotel with rooms facing the ocean and overlooking the iconic pink building (The Royal Hawaiian), so guests can enjoy the view from their balcony. Even with its smaller rooms, it is spacious and comfortable for all travelers, especially for families traveling to Waikiki. The hotel is in a central location right off of Kalakaua Ave. The lobby has a lively atmosphere, but the rooms are still quiet.

Wayfinder Waikiki is an aesthetically newly remodeled hotel in the heart of Waikiki. It is a short walk to many restaurants, including the International Market Place. However, Wayfinder Waikiki still retains the essence of an old hotel, and its colorful interior design lets you experience both the new and the old.

Things you might be thinking about

Can I stay at other areas other than Waikiki?

Of course, you can. It all depends on where you want to spend more time, such as North Shore, Kailua, or Kapolei. Ultimately, there are more hotels in Waikiki with cheaper prices than other locations.

Is it better to stay in hotels or Airbnb?

It depends on your preference to stay in a hotel or an Airbnb. Most hotels have additional benefits around Honolulu because of the resort fees they charge. But if you have a car, you are more likely to find an Airbnb with free parking than a hotel with free parking.
