Most Popular Hikes in Oahu
No visit to Oahu is complete without a hike up Diamond Head State Monument, also known as Diamond Head Crater. This extinct volcanic crater is a major landmark on the island and offers stunning 360-degree views of Honolulu, Waikiki Beach, and the Pacific Ocean from its summit. The moderate 1.5-mile hike takes about an hour and a half round trip, and you'll be rewarded with some of the most beautiful scenery Hawaii has to offer at the end. Don't forget your camera!
Must make a reservation for entry or parking
Entry Fee: $5 + Processing Fee
Parking Fee: $10 + Processing Fee

Are you up for a challenge? Hike up these steep old railway tracks overlooking the ocean & city. Going early in the morning is recommended since there are no shades. It is around a 1-mile hike, but it still can be challenging. Remember to take your time, wear hiking shoes, and bring water.

A trail with a magnificent sunrise view along O'ahu's southeastern coastline. When you reach the top of the hike, you'll see the beautiful Makapu'u Beach Park to your left. The moderate hike of 2 miles takes around 2 hours, including enjoying the sunrise view. You'll see humpback whales migrating from November to May if you're lucky enough (Bring your binoculars!). It's a great morning hike to go with family & friends or with your dog!
Tips: Get there about an hour before sunrise & part along the road.

This World War II memorial includes a museum full of artifacts and interactive exhibits that chronicle the events leading up to the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor by Japanese forces and its aftermath. You can also take a boat tour around Battleship Row or visit the USS Arizona Memorial, built over what remains of this iconic battleship sunk in the attack.

Honolulu's Chinatown
Right in Downtown Honolulu, you'll find this bustling Chinatown filled with restaurants, fruit stands, and shops. It's a must to at least visit Chinatown once. You can grab dim sum at one place, baos at another, and sugar cane juice at Ohana Market. I recommend Ohana Market for all your fresh & cheap fruits. Also, find a cheap parking spot at the Chinese Cultural Center Garage for $1/hour.

During winter, watching surfing on the North Shore is a must. One of the best beaches recommended by locals with big waves is Banzai Pipeline. Even if you don't know what's happening, watching the big boys surfing is still worth watching.
